Alexander FominDeputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General
Alexander Fomin was born on May 25, 1959 in Leninogorsk (East Kazakhstan province). He graduated from the Military Institute of the Red Banner of the Ministry of Defence (now – Military University of the Russian Defence Ministry) in 1984.
Served the in Russian Armed Forces in 1977-1993.
In 1993-1994 – department officer of the Main Directorate of the Military Technical cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Affairs of the Russian Federation.
In 1994-1998 – Assistant of the Director General, Deputy Directorate Chief, Directorate Chief, Deputy Chief of the Service, Chief of the Service of the Rosvooruzheniye State Company.
In 1998-1999 – Deputy Director General of the Zarubezhinveststroi Corporation
In 1999-2001 – Chief of the Directorate of the Promexport federal state unitary enterprise.
In 2001-2005 – Department Chief, Deputy Department Chief of the Rosoboronexport federal state unitary enterprise.
In 2005-2007 – Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
In 2007-2012 – First Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
2012-2017 – Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
On January 31, 2017, he was appointed to the post of the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation under the decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
Alexander Fomin is the II grade State Councilor of the Russian Federation.
He was decorated with the Medal of the Order “For merits to the Fatherland” II grade, Order “For merits to the Fatherland” IV grade, and the Order of Friendship.
He is the Candidate of Technical Sciences. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English and Creole.
