Sergei KarakaevCommander of the Strategic Missile Forces
Born on 4 June 1961 in the village of Ivano-Slyusarevka (the Krasnodar Territory).
He graduated from the Rostov Higher Military Command-Engineering School (1983), the Command Department of the Military Academy named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky (1994), North-Western Academy of Civil Service (by correspondence, 2004). In 2009 he graduated with honours from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Consistently held all the fielding command-and-staff positions from the group engineer to the commander of missile formation.
He headed a Direction of the Main Personnel Administration of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. In the years of 2006–2008 commanded the Vladimir Missile Association.
In October 2009 was appointed the Chief of Staff / First Deputy Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.
By the RF Presidential Decree of 22 June 2010 he has been appointed the Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.
Personal decorations: the Order of Merit for the Fatherland 4th grade, the Order of Military Merit, and a number of Medals.
