Central MD search-and-rescue units ready for Soyuz TMA-16M spaceship launch

The Central MD Air Force search-and-rescue teams finished the projection from Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions to the operational airfields of Russia and Kazakhstan along the Soyuz TMA-16M manual aircraft flight trajectory.

The crew of the spaceship consists of Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Korniyenko and American astronaut Scott Kelly. The launch is planned to be performed on March 27 at 22:43 from Baikonur spaceport. Search and evacuation of the crew will be provided by 140 servicemen, 10 Mi-8 helicopters, 3 An-12 and An-26 airplanes, 17 cross-country vehicles

Launching and orbit insertion is organized at the 2nd Air Force and Air Defense Command tactical control center in Yekaterinburg.
