Honoring of prize-winners of the 1st Open Hockey Championship of the Russian Navy held in St. Petersburg
The championship was held from May 18 to 24 in St. Petersburg at the sports palace ‘Khokkeyny’ and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The tournament was attended by the hockey teams representing the High Command of the Navy of Russia, Northern, Pacific and Baltic Fleets, as well as the invited teams of the Mikhail Military Artillery Academy, Military Academy of Signal Communications named after S.M. Budyonny, Military Space Academy named after A.F. Mozhaysky.
Preliminaries revealed finalists – the Pacific and Northern Fleets.
In the finals, the referee’s whistle fixed the score 7:4 in favour of the Pacific Fleet.
The third place went to the team of the Military Space Academy named after A.F. Mozhaysky.
Awarding of the winners of the 1st Russian Navy’s Open Hockey Championship was conducted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Viktor Chirkov, as well as the participant of the Great Patriotic War, Lenin Prize Laureate, veteran of the Navy Rear-Admiral (ret.) Yevgeny Buzov.
