Priboy universal landing ship to become an alternative to the French “Mistral”
A model of a universal landing ship (project “Priboy”), that can be an alternative to the French helicopter carrier Mistral is presented at the stand of the Russian Navy Main Command in the framework of the “Army-2015” Forum.
Features incorporated in the design allow to expect that ships of the “Priboy” project will be able to successfully meet the tasks of embarkation, transportation and landing of troops.
The unique project developed by the Neva Design Bureau will not repeat technical developments and systems that are already available on the French ship. Everything aboard the “Priboy” will be domestic: both amphibious assault landing crafts and air wing, and weapon systems.
The Russian Navy Main Command expects that, at least, four such ships will be built for the needs of the Russian Navy.
The decision to build the ship will be taken after completion of its project.
Presumably, the “Priboy” ship will have a displacement of 14 thousand tons with draught of 5 m. The ship can reach speed up to 20 knots. The range of her voyage is 6 thousand nautical miles, and the autonomy of cruise is 60 days.
Up to 8 ASW and amphibious landing helicopters Ka-27 and Ka-52K will be placed aboard the ship. It can carry up to 60 vehicles. “Priboy” will carry on board four landing boats of project 11770M or two landing boats of project 12061M.
It will be able to provide her air defence by means of deck-based anti-aircraft missile and gun system Pantsir-M.
