Cosmodrome Plesetsk carried out test launch of intercontinental ballistic missile Yars
On October 28, at 14:30 MSK, a joint combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces and the Aerospace Force conducted test launch of intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the RS-24, equipped with multiple reentry warhead, from a silo launcher in the Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome.
The main objective of the launch was to affirm reliability of missile set of the same class produced by JSC “Votkinsky zavod”.
Warheads reached a predetermined area on the Kura testing range in the Kamchatka Peninsula.
The goals of the launch have been achieved, the tasks assigned are fulfilled.
The adoption of the ICBMs RS-24 with multiple warheads increased combat capabilities of the Strategic Missile Forces’ attack group to overcome missile defense systems, thereby strengthening nuclear deterrence potential of the Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces (SNF).
In the future ICBMs RS-24 will form the basis of the mobile SMF group, which will be capable as a part of Russia's Strategic Nuclear Forces to ensure reliable security of the country and its allies.The Kozelsk missile formation is equipped with missiles of this type.
