Ministers of Defence of Russia and Kazakhstan summed up the main results of military cooperation in 2015
Today the Russian Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu met the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan Imangali Tasmagambetov. They summed up the main results of military cooperation in 2015.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu called ratification of agreement on transition and further exploitation of the Kazakh centre Balkhash within the Russian Missile Attack Warning System an important result of the Russian-Kazakh cooperation.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu mentioned that another important result of that year – the resolution of issues of concerning optimization of military fields and testing ranges.
He reminded that ratification of protocols to the agreements concerning the exploitation of testing ranges of the Russian Defence Ministry on the territory of Kazakhsktan is being finished.
According to the Russian Defence Minister, after this question is resolved, about 1,6 million hectares of land will be available for agricultural works and mining operations. But, what is more important, that will not affect weaponry tests because many of those systems and armaments are then introduced in the Russian army and in the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
Head of the Russian military department thanked experts of both countries, as well as the Defence Minster of Kazakhstan and the President of the Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev for paying attention to this question.
The Russian Defence Minister also stated that the contract on gratuitous transferring S-300 air defence missile systems to Kazakhstan had been fulfilled.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said that it was a significant contribution, if not the main one, into the Joint Air Defence System. The system can be said to be completely equipped and armed.
According to him, transferring data of the air defence systems is very actual now because different threats can be observed near borderline of Kazakhstan almost every day.
Russian Defence Minister noted that there were issues to be discussed, including Afghanistan, situation in Syria and Iraq, and, certainly, further bilateral cooperation.
In his turn, Imangali Tasmagambetov expressed his gratitude to the Russian Federation for gratuitous transfer of S-300 air defence systems. He noted that it was a significant assistance and added that the systems had been transferred in the course of development of the Joint Regional Air Defence System of Russia and Kazakhstan.
