Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held teleconference
Today, the Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has held teleconference with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces.
The teleconference participants discussed issues of renewal of production of Tu-160 aircraft, raise of operability of Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic missile bombers as well as implementation of the State Defence Order on introduction of the Ratnik uniform kit.
In his opening speech, the head of the military department noted that more than 1,500 training activities had been held during the winter training period.
According to the Minister of Defence, special attention will be paid to time spent in the air and sea as well as practical driving of combat vehicles and parachute jumps during the summer training period.
“It is necessary to reach high effectiveness of control bodies and military units. Troops are to practice operating in complicated conditions during exercises using modern combat experience,” ordered General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
“Moreover, in course of preparation for the complex mobilization training, capabilities of federal and regional control bodies, companies of the industrial defence complex of operating in conditions of wartime will be inspected,” stressed the Defence Minster.
Sergei Shoigu noted that the West 2017 Russia-Belarus strategic exercise will be held at the final stage of combat training.
The Minister of Defence attracted attention of the teleconference participants to several important events, which had taken place during previous month. In particular, session of the Council of the CIS Defence Ministers devoted to its 25th anniversary took place in Moscow on May 26.
“We summed up results of the joint work and discussed issues of further cooperation,” said the Minister of Defence. According to him, all participants of the session confirmed that the Council of the Ministers of Defence was an effective instrument of military cooperation allowing to counter modern challenges and threats as well as provide the CIS territory with peace.
Turning to the issues of agenda, the head of the military department stated that “in order to support capabilities and development of the long-range aviation grouping, the President of the Russian Federation order to organize serial production of Ru-160 and create a prospective long-range aviation complex”.
Turning to the next issue, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu noted that 50,000 sets of the Ratnik second generation uniform kit had been introduced into troops annually since 2014.
“As a result, share of the modern uniform kit in the permanent readiness military formations and units has reached 42%,” said General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
According to him, this kit exceeds capabilities of other Russia-made analogues by 2-3 times. It also exceeds foreign samples in several characteristics, and especially in means of armored protection.
