Russian Defence Minister highly assesses development of military technical cooperation with Armed Forces of Tajikistan
Today, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has held a meeting with his counterpart from Tajikistan Lieutenant General Sherali Mirzo in course of the CIS Defence Ministers Council session in Dushanbe.
‘Russia-Tajikistan military and technical cooperation is developed successfully. We are holding a lot of exercises aimed to decrease risks and build up stability in this region taking into account situation on the state border of Tajikistan. I mean threats coming from Afghanistan and caused by dynamically changed situation in that country. It is changing not for the better,’ said General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
According to the head of the Russian defence department, the Russian party provides support to modernization of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan. Today, further stages of implementation of the programme are to be discussed today.
The Russian Defence Minister expressed his confidence that all aims are to be achieved. Russia-Tajikistan Defence Ministry Cooperation Plan for 2018 has been signed.
In his turn, Sherali Mirzo expressed his gratitude to the Russian party and Sergei Shoigu personally for the contribution in security in the Central Asia region.
