Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu arrives in Philippines
On October 23, the Russian Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has arrived on official visit to the Philippines. The visit is to last till October 25.
According to Russian Defense Ministry’s Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, the Russian Minister of Defence will attend the 4th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) that includes eight of ASEAN's dialogue partners. It is planned that Russian Defence Minister will hold bilateral talks with Delfin Lorenzana, the Secretary of National Defense of the Philippines.
Moreover, Sergei Shoigu is to have bilateral talks with defence ministers attending the Meeting.
The sides will discuss global and regional security issues, prospects of military and technical cooperation.
The president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, is expected to receive the Russian Minister of Defence. Besides, it is planned that the Russian-Filipino intergovernmental arrangement on military and technical cooperation will be signed, as Major General Konashenkov said.
