Tu-22M3 bombers and submarine Kolpino hit ISIS infrastructure near Abu Kamal
Over the last three days, Russian long-range aircraft and Russian Navy formation in the Mediterranean Sea have been supporting offensive of the Syrian Arab Army on the ISIS grouping in east Syria.
Today, the Tu-22M3 long-range bombers and the submarine Kolpino have conducted a massive missile strike on the ISIS infrastructure and militants near Abu Kamal.
The strike made by six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers and six Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles have hit terrorists’ strongholds, armament and ammunition depots, concentrations of militants, and important command centres.
The Su-24 and Su-34 bombers of the Khmeymim airbase carried out missile strikes on the ISIS positions as well.
The Su-30SM, Su-35, and MiG-29 fighters covered the Russian bombers.
The ISIS large force grouping located near Abu Kamal has suffered significant damage.
This has promoted offensive of the Syrian assault detachments commanded by General Suheil al-Hassan against the ISIS last bridgehead in east Syria.
The Kalibr cruise missiles have been launched from submerged position at a distance of more than 650 km.
Over the last three days, the Tu-22 strategic bombers have delivered 18 strikes on the ISIS terrorists. Moreover, the submarines Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino in the Mediterranean Sea have fired 9 Kalibr cruise missiles to eliminate terrorists.
Having accomplished the combat mission, the long-range aircraft covered 5,000 km to return back to home station in the Russian Federation.
