Briefing by the Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria (November 10, 2017)

Positive changings in fighting against terrorist organizations in Syria are establishing favourable conditions in the Syrian society for settling the long internal political crisis.

Preparation for the Syrian National Dialogue Congress is continued in the Syrian provinces.

According to the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides, citizens of Tell Rifaat district, Aleppo province, are interested in the forum. Coordination and Control Committee held a session and determined candidates for delegates of the Congress from Afrin and Shahba.

The number of parties, public organizations, representatives of religious and ethnic groups as well as citizens of Syria willing to unite efforts to settle a stabilized political life in the country is increasing.

In course of the session of the National Reconciliation Committee of the Idlib de-escalation zone, candidates for participation in the Congress session have been determined. There are representatives of different political parties, administration, religious organizations living in the provinces of Idlib and Hama are among candidates.

The Ba'ath Party section in Homs province is discussing issues of representing its candidates at the Congress session. A list of candidates has been determined.

Mine action operation in liberated areas of Deir ez-Zor is continued.

For the last 24 hours, specialists of the International Mine Action Centre of the Russian Armed Forces have examined 12 hectares of the city territory, 10 buildings, including a mosque and a school in southwestern city area. They have detected and eliminated 525 explosive devices.

The Reconciliation Centre jointly with National Reconciliation Committees of the de-escalation zones continue providing support to recover social infrastructure damaged by the warfare as well as to establish conditions to return refugees back home.

Over the last 24 hours, 70 people have returned back to their homes in Aleppo province (13 people), Homs province (57 people).

Officers of the Russian Reconciliation Centre jointly with representatives of the National Reconciliation Committees of the Idlib de-escalation zone and Aleppo administration have examined 12 buildings of formed schools. Costs for recovery of four educational establishments have been estimated. The schools are to recovered by the next educational year.

Number of pupils is increasing because of continuous process of returning refugees back home. Therefore, there is lack in schools in the city. Finances for recovering the school are absent. Assistance by international community is required.

Under the auspices of the Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides, Syrian citizens have been receiving humanitarian assistance.

Citizens of Sharakliyah, Homs province, have signed a ceasefire agreement.

Some of the citizens have no opportunity to buy food. The Russian Reconciliation Centre has delivered 1,700 tons of food supplies (rice, flour, canned mear, sugar, and tea) in Sharakliyah.

Citizens have received 500 sets with food supplies. Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to 38 civilians, including four children.
