CSTO CRRF exercise kicked off in Tajikistan
Tajikistan hosts the CSTO CRRF exercise stage. The troops are practising combined operation to eliminate illegal armed formations in mountainous area.
This is the final stage of the Combat Brotherhood 2017 CSTO strategic exercise, which is defensive through all its episodes.
The exercise is aimed to improve command and control system of the CRRF in the Central Asia, and to enhance interoperability of staffs on various levels, as well as to master commanders’ skills in planning and command and control on the basis of experience in modern armed conflicts.
There are several episodes that are to be performed at five training grounds of the Tajikistani Armed Forces. It is also planned to actively use artillery and air force.
The final episode is to take place at the Harbmaydon training ground.
Military contingents from the CSTO countries - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan - will take part in the exercise. More than 5,000 troops, 60 aircraft, more than 1,500 pieces of military and special hardware including the Iskander missile systems, long-range and short-range aircraft and drones will be involved in the drills.
CSTO Secretary-General Yuri Khachaturov will observe the active phase of the exercise.
