Leadership of the Airborne troops headed by the Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov summed up results in 2017.
This year, the troops have received two battalion sets of BMD-4M combat airborne vehicles and BTR-MDM APCs, over 80 Rys’ and UAZ Pickup armored automobiles, special hardware for the NBC protection units, and more than 10,000 D-10 and Arbalet parachute systems.
The Russian paratroopers took part in 17 contests of the International Army Games 2017.
The Zapad 2017 has become the main combat training activity of the Airborne troops this year.
In June, the Russian Airborne units jointly with special units of Serbia and Belarus held the Slavic Brotherhood 2017 exercise.
In autumn, units of the Ulyanovsk and Ivanovo formations took part in the Combat Brotherhood and Cooperation exercises.
