Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu opens IV International Army Games 2018
Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu declared the IV International Army Games 2018 officially open.
"Dear friends! Welcome to the opening ceremony of the IV International Army Games 2018! — the head of the military department started. — First of all would like to read an address by President of Russia Vladimir Putin to participants and guests of the event".
In the welcoming letter, the Russian President stressed that the Games had become a good tradition which brings countries closer together.
"I am positive that this competition will be organized at a high level. Spectators shall see fair, uncompromising contest and splendid victories. And cetainly it shall contribute to development of international military and technical cooperation and promotion of military service. I wish all success to the participants, and may fans have great and unforgettable impressions", the letter said.
When addressing participants, he stressed the competition among military specialists is only at the beginning of its long history, but still it is a prominent event of a global scale.
"Each year we see more teams participating in the Games as well as the contests become more complicated. However, the only thing that remains unchanged - the spirit of courage, generosity, comradeship that prevails on the mock battlefields", the Defence Minister said.
Sergei Shoigu also stressed that this year 189 teams form 32 countries participate in the Games. Best servicemen will show their skill in 28 contests held in seven countries.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu expressed his confidence that the Games help to build a constructive dialogue with military departments of other countries, to consolidate trust and partnership between states and bring nations together.
