Nuclear-powered attack submarine Tomsk practice mock torpedo attack against surface ships
During a tactical drills of the Pacific Fleet in the Sea of Okhotsk the nuclear-powered attack submarine Tomsk carried out a mock torpedo attack against a detachment of surface ships.
A detachment was made up of the missile cruiser Varyag, destroyer Bystry, and major ASW ships. The sub approached the task force in submerged position, took a better position for the attack and fired four dummy torpedoes at the mock enemy's ships.
Having successfully fulfilled the mission, the attack sub stealthy left the area.
Earlier, on August 27, the nuclear-powered attack submarine Tomsk had engaged a surface target with cruise missiles at the Sea of Okhotsk.
