Vostok 2018 large-scale exercise to involve main forces of the Central Military District
Main forces of the Central Military District will be involved in the Vostok 2018 large-scale exercise which is to take place in mid-September.
- "This is an unprecedented biggest drills, and for us it is honor to participat in it. Troops will practice new forms and methods of warfare, including combat experience gained in the Syrian Arab Republic," Lieutenant General Alexander Lapin said.
Earlier Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu announced, that the Vostok 2018 takes place on September 11-15 and it will be the biggest maneuveres in last 37 years. The event will engaged some 300,000 troops, over 1,000 aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Troops of the Central Military District are stationed in Volga, Ural and Siberian federal districts. The military district has several facilities abroad: the 201st military base in Tajikistan, Kant air base in Kyrgyzstan, and units in Kazakhstan.
