Southern Military District troops to take part in joint drills with their colleagues from Pakistan
Troops of the Southern Military District will participate in the Friendship 2018 Russian-Pakistani joint exercises in the highlands of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
In July 2018, Pakistan hosted the final conference attended by delegations of Russia and Pakistan. The sides agreed on concept, objectives and tasks, manpower engaged from the both countries, and time and site for the drills.
The joint exercises are to be held from October 21 to November 4 engaging troops from Russia and Pakistan. It is planned to involved over 200 troops from the two countries.
The Russian Armed Forces will be represented by over 70 servicemen of a mountain motorised rifle brigade stationed in Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Southern Military District.
The drills will be held at the Pakistani training centre for special forces in Cherat at an altitude above 1,400 metres as well as at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi.
Troops from the two countries will exchange experience in combat training missions in highlands as well as in fighting against illegal armed gangs.
The joint exercises are aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation of the two countries.
