Russian Defence Minister speaks at the expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Defence
Today, Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu attended an extended meeting of the State Duma Committee on Defence.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu focused on the main aspects of development of the Russian Armed Forces over the past six years, which make them a reliable guarantor of Russia's national security and sovereignty.
Particular attention was paid to rearmament with modern weapons and military equipment, often not having world analogues in their effectiveness, strengthening the army group in the Crimea, developing the military infrastructure in the Arctic, and the experience of the military operation in Syria.
In particular, the Minister of Defence stopped on issues related to the new staffing system of the Armed Forces, when priority is given to contracted service, the revival of military missions at industrial enterprises, which allowed the defence industry to control the quality of products, to reduce the number of failures of weapons and equipment.
One of the most important topics raised in the report of the Minister of Defence were issues related to the social security of military personnel, in particular, providing them with housing.
