Pacific Fleet submarine practise a torpedo attack in the Sea of Japan
In accordance with the combat training plan, the submarine Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the Primorye Flotilla, Pacific Fleet, practised an attack against a detachment of ships.
The detachment, made up of the fleet flagship missile cruiser Varyag, destroyer Bystry and large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev supported by Tu-142 and Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft, was practising anti-submarine search in the training zone of the Sea of Japan.
The submarine stealthily entered the area of action and trained to engage surface ships with four dummy torpedoes. The actions of the submariners in the course of the exercise were considered successful.
