Russian Chief Of General Staff meets with his Vietnamese counterpart
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - First Deputy Minister of Defence, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov met with Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam, Colonel General Phan Van Giang.
The Vietnamese military leader arrived in Russia to participate in the closing ceremony of the V International Army Games.
"Military and military-technical cooperation remain the most important elements of a comprehensive strategic partnership, which has recently become more active," Valery Gerasimov said. He is confident that today's meeting will strengthen the friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces emphasized that Vietnam is a long-time-tested partner of Russia, relations with which are based on traditions of friendship, unity of views on many issues.
In turn, the Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam noted that the purpose of his current visit to Moscow is to further strengthen and expand military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Hanoi. Phan Van Giang recalled that this year marks 25 years since the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendship and 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vietnam.
