Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu meets with French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly
Today in Moscow, the Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu met with French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly and confirmed the readiness of the Russian side for closer cooperation with French colleagues.
On September 3, they discussed a lot of topics that relate to common interests and concern security issues in Europe. The sides exchanged views on the main issues of their meeting.
Russian Defence Minister recalled that the renewal of contacts between the two military departments was decided by the presidents of Russia and France at a meeting in Bregancon.
He said that he shared the desire of his French counterpart to achieve concrete results today to give a new impetus to our relations.
He noted that we are determined to go in cooperation as far as our French colleagues are ready to go.
According to him, the recent negotiations between the chiefs of the General Staffs of Russia and France confirm this mutual interest.
The Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and French Defence Minister Florence Parly announced their intention to outline work directions for developing cooperation between the two defence departments at a meeting in Moscow.
“In almost all matters, our positions are close. I believe that the basis for a respectful conversation and readiness for a dialogue on resolving differences is obvious,” said Sergei Shoigu at a meeting with his French counterpart.
The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation said that the outcome of the meeting could be an agreed list of tasks, which will fill our interaction with new content.
In turn, Parly said that her visit to Moscow is an important moment in relations between France and Russia. “Because we must, in my opinion, move along the path of dialogue,” said the French Minister of Defence.
“I hope that at the end of this meeting we will be able to develop certain areas of work that we can continue to work on in the coming weeks and months,” the French Defence Minister said.
