Medical specialists of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – participants of the competition "Military Medical Relay Race", which is taking place these days in Uzbekistan as part of the VI Army international games, became the first military delegation to visit the new museum and park complex "Pobeda" in Tashkent. The buildings were opened on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The initiative to create the park belongs to the head of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A sightseeing tour was conducted for Russian military personnel on the territory of the complex, which has a total area of more than 14 hectares.
The new park, symbolizing 1418 days of protection of the Fatherland, consists of two parts. The first represents the participation of Uzbek citizens in battles, the second-the life of the Republic in the rear. The historical park contains several memorials, a railway station, and compositions with trenches, dugouts, and field kitchens. An open-air exhibition of military equipment and weapons has been launched. Russian military medics were particularly impressed by the restored ambulance train from the Great Patriotic war time. Representatives of the delegation were able to see the memorial "Ode to firmness" in memory of a resident of Uzbekistan Zulfiya Zokirova, who lost five sons in the war, and the dominant feature of the park - a large-scale sculptural composition, which is crowned by a monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Sabir Rakhimov.
The head of the memorial complex, Colonel Shukhrat Yusupov, spoke about the joint work with Russian colleagues during the creation of the complex. "Our employees were in Russia, in particular, in the Central archive of the Russian Defence Ministry, we received more than ten thousand materials. Now the cooperation continues. After the pandemic, we will definitely visit the museums of the Russian Federation," he said. Previously, it was believed that about 1.5 million people from Uzbekistan took part in the Second World War. According to newly discovered information, about 1 million 951 thousand people were mobilized from the Republic for the war. The documents confirmed that more than 200 thousand soldiers and officers were awarded state military awards. Thousands of participants of the war were treated in military hospitals deployed on the territory of the Republic. According to new data, 1.5 million people, including more than 250,000 children, were evacuated from the affected areas to Uzbekistan.
All these stories are reflected In the museum of Glory, located on the territory of the complex. Here, historical facts and events are presented using modern technologies, interactive methods, awards, personal letters and photos of war participants. The Museum management told about the joint work with the Russian side in the framework of the project "Memory Road".
The leadership of the Russian delegation noted the great role of such structures in the patriotic education of young people. "The people who honor their history are doomed to eternity," said the head of the Russian team, Colonel of the medical service Vladimir Lyutov.
