Unbreakable Brotherhood 2020 CSTO exercise starts in Belarus


Today, at the Losvido training ground in the Vitebsk region (Republic of Belarus), the opening ceremony of the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2020 command-post exercise of the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took place.

The opening ceremony of the exercise was attended by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the CSTO Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, Major General Alexander Volfovich and the head of the military contingent of the Central Military District of Russia, Major General Rustam Minnekaev. They wished the participants good luck and the completion of all tasks.  The event ended with the passage of the military continents with a solemn march.

Earlier, military units of the Central Military District from the Samara region were delivered to the Losvido training ground in the Vitebsk region by an Il-76 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Aerospace Forces. The weapons and military equipment that will be used in the exercise were transferred by rail, covering a total of more than 1,500 kilometers.

In total, more than 140 servicemen of the Central Military District are involved in the exercise from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, about 40 units of military and aviation equipment, including armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, armored vehicles "Tiger" and "Typhoon", helicopters Mi-8AMTSh-V and Mi- 24, as well as special vehicles for communication, radiation and chemical reconnaissance and engineering technology for remote mine clearance.

The Unbreakable Brotherhood 2020 command post exercise with peacekeeping forces is being conducted in accordance with the plan for joint training of command and control bodies and formations of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The exercise will be held in two stages and will end on October 16 with a drawing of practical actions at the Losvido training ground.

All planned activities of the exercise are carried out in compliance with strict sanitary and epidemiological measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection.
