The peacekeepers built a 150-meter bridge across the lake to deliver humanitarian cargo at the exercise "Unbreakable brotherhood-2020"
At the command and staff exercise of the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization "Unbreakable brotherhood-2020", which takes place at the Losvido training ground in the Vitebsk region (Republic of Belarus), Russian and Belarusian military personnel deployed a 150-meter pontoon bridge over lake Shesteno to deliver humanitarian cargo.
According to the plan of the exercise, the peacekeepers had to create a temporary connection with the city for the residents of the village, who remained blocked due to the armed clash of the conflicting parties on the only connecting road. Engineers were able to quickly transfer equipment to the designated area, dump pontoons into the water and deploy the PMP-M pontoon bridge fleet. This made it possible to restore temporary communication and deliver medical supplies and supplies to residents by land. Earlier, the Mi-8 helicopter crews worked on the transfer of medicines.
The command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces "Unbreakable brotherhood-2020" began on Monday in the Republic of Belarus. The total number of participants in the exercise is more than 900 people, and more than 120 units of military and special equipment are also involved, including air drones, four Mi-8 helicopters and two Mi-24 attack helicopters. The exercises are held in two stages and will end on October 16 with a practical action draw at the Losvido training ground in the Vitebsk region.
The organization and conduct of these events is carried out in accordance with the Regulations on the procedure for preparing and conducting joint exercises in the CSTO format, approved by the Decision of the CSTO collective security Council on November 28, 2019.
Earlier, military units of the Central Military District from the Samara region were delivered to the Losvido training ground in the Vitebsk region by an Il-76 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Aerospace Forces. The weapons and military equipment that will be used in the exercise were transferred by rail, covering a total of more than 1,500 kilometers.
In total, more than 140 servicemen of the Central Military District are involved in the exercise from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, about 40 units of military and aviation equipment, including armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, armored vehicles "Tiger" and "Typhoon", helicopters Mi-8AMTSh-V and Mi- 24, as well as special vehicles for communication, radiation and chemical reconnaissance and engineering technology for remote mine clearance.
All planned activities of the exercise are carried out in compliance with strict sanitary and epidemiological measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection.
