The new military medical center in Orenburg increased beds for patients with COVID-19 by one and a half times
The multifunctional medical center of the Russian Defence Ministry, which was built in Orenburg in the spring of this year, increased the number of beds by 50% due to increased demand.
"We added 30 beds, including 10 intensive care units. The premises of the new medical center allowed it. The increase in places is due to the increased demand during this time period. Now the regular beds are loaded by 93%", - said Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Stepanov, head of the Orenburg branch of the 426th military hospital.
He also noted that the medical center is a fundamentally new type of medical institution, which implements the most modern and promising solutions that almost completely exclude the possibility of infection of staff, as well as some patients from others. About 800 people have already received treatment. These are not only military personnel, their family members and military pensioners, but also the civilian population.
The medical center consists of two infectious diseases departments, as well as reception, intensive care, diagnostic and disinfection departments. All waste water, as well as rainwater from the territory, enters the sewer network only after complete disinfection. Transmission of infection from the patient to the staff is excluded, since a special ventilation system provides for air disinfection and eliminates the flow of air from the box to the corridor and to the street, even when the doors are open. Medics communicate with patients through special voice assistants that are installed near each bed.
The diagnostic department is equipped with a modern CT, ultrasound, PCR diagnostic apparatus, and other equipment that allows patients to conduct diagnostic studies at the most modern level. In addition, the center is equipped with mobile medical equipment that allows you to perform a number of studies directly in the ward. The medical center is equipped with a full-fledged operating room, which allows you to quickly provide surgical care to patients if necessary.
