The commander of the Central Military District summed up the results of the joint Russian-Tajik exercise

A joint exercise of the 201st Russian military base and units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the Lyaur, Sambuli and Harb-Maidon training grounds against the backdrop of the increasing unstable international situation in Central Asia. It was announced by Commander of the Central Military District General Lieutenant Alexander Lapin on summing up the results of the exercise.

“A characteristic feature of the exercise was its conduct against the backdrop of the growing unstable international situation in the Central Asian region. Regular joint actions of the Russian and Tajik military contingents strengthen the military community of our states. It is very important that during the exercise we found new forms and methods of using troops, taking into account the development of means of armed struggle and assessing the experience of modern armed conflicts,” said Colonel General Alexander Lapin.

Over 550 pieces of weapons and military equipment were involved in practical actions, including the upgraded BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A and BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, Grad and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, and Gvozdika and Acacia self-propelled howitzers.

“The clarity and coherence of the actions of the military personnel of our countries testifies to the increased skill of the personnel and a unified approach in organizing and conducting combat operations. By your professional actions, you have confirmed your unconditional readiness and ability to fulfill the tasks of ensuring the security of our fraternal peoples. This brotherhood was sealed with the blood of our grandfathers on the battlefields during the Great Patriotic War. We are the successors of their feat and today, based on the results of the exercise, we can say that we will not disgrace their memory,” said the commander of the Central Military District.

Colonel General Alexander Lapin expressed his gratitude to the military leadership of the Republic of Tajikistan for creating the necessary conditions for achieving the objectives of the exercise and for showing traditional oriental hospitality.
