Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu holds teleconference with leadership of Armed Forces
Today, the National Centre for State Defence Control of the Russian Federation, under the leadership of the head of the military Department, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, held a teleconference with the leadership of the Armed Forces.
Starting the work, the Defence Minister congratulated everyone on the past holidays-New Year and Christmas.
"I want to thank all those who were on duty these days, served as part of duty shifts, performed tasks in the red zones of hospitals, ensured order in military units," the head of the military department said.
Further, Sergei Shoigu recalled that in December, at an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defenсe, the results of the activities of the Armed Forces for 2020 were summed up.
As the Minister of Defenсe noted, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the results achieved and identified key tasks for the coming period.
"To ensure the security of our country and maintain strategic parity, it is necessary to maintain a high level of readiness of the nuclear triad and develop its components," the head of the military department said.
Sergei Shoigu also added that it is important not to lose the pace of re-equipment of the army and navy, to strengthen the potential of high-precision weapons, to fulfill the tasks of the state defenсe order in a timely and full manner.
In addition, it is necessary to develop military science and introduce new ways of using troops. At the same time, it is necessary to proceed from forecasts of the nature of armed conflicts and local wars, as well as the prospects for the appearance of weapons in foreign armies based on new physical principles.
In combat training, according to the Minister of Defenсe, it is necessary to make greater use of robotic systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and automated control systems.
In addition, work will continue on improving the system of social protection of military personnel — including in terms of monetary allowances and housing.
"Thus, we face serious challenges. And how successful their solution will be depends on our ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in areas that are important for the Armed Forces. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief paid special attention to this, as well as to the importance of continuous movement forward," the head of the military department recalled.
