Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu holds teleconference with leadership of Armed Forces

Today at the National Centre for Defence Control of the Russian Federation, chaired by the Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, took place the teleconference with the leadership of the Armed Forces.

The head of the military department proposed to discuss the situation with coronavirus infection in the Armed Forces.

As Sergei Shoigu noted, thanks to the measures taken and the effective work of the operational headquarters, the epidemiological situation is under control. The incidence rate of COVID-19 in the Army and Navy is a quarter lower than in the country as a whole.

“More than 100 thousand servicemen have already been vaccinated. On the basis of military medical organizations, 498 vaccination points have been formed, including 320 field ones. By the end of March, we plan to complete the first stage of vaccination. Family members of military personnel can also be vaccinated against coronavirus from the new year”, - the Minister of Defence said.

According to Sergei Shoigu, PCR laboratories are working for the prompt detection of coronavirus infection, which do up to six thousand tests daily. In this case, the result can be obtained in 4-6 hours.

An additional 200 thousand thousand express tests were sent to pre-university educational organizations, higher educational institutions and remote garrisons.

All cadets are checked for coronavirus infection upon arrival from vacation.

Since the beginning of January, vaccination of the command and teaching staff has been organized in all educational organizations of the Ministry of Defence.

“From the first days of the pandemic, the Armed Forces have been involved in providing assistance to civilian health care. We continue to provide it now. In 43 regions, the local population receives care and the necessary treatment in military hospitals”, - the head of the military department added.

More than 800 reanimation vehicles, 18 helicopter and nine aircraft medical modules for the transportation of critically ill patients are in constant readiness.

"In order to maintain the health of servicemen, I instruct the operational headquarters to organize the vaccination of cadets and students of the academies on a voluntary basis as a priority", - the Minister of Defence set the task.

In his speech, the Minister of Defence also emphasized that under the conditions of restrictive measures, all combat training activities are carried out as planned.

Every day, more than 100 thousand servicemen practically work out the tasks at the training grounds using about three thousand units of weapons and equipment.

Surface ships, submarines, and support vessels of the Navy solve course tasks.

The Airborne Troops has organized training flights. In January, some of them were held in the Arctic zone. The crews performed tasks over the Arctic Ocean with air-to-air refuelling (AAR).

According to the schedule, the first stage of the all-Army competitions in preparation for the Army International Games has begun.

"The implementation of the planned activities of combat training will allow the troops to solve the entire complex of tasks facing them", - said Sergei Shoigu.

Further, the head of the military department proposed to discuss the implementation of the state defense order for the supply and maintenance of aircraft equipment.

Last year, the enterprises of the United Aircraft Corporation delivered 147 aircraft to the Armed Forces, including the first serial multi-purpose fighter Su-57. The upgraded Tu-160M and Tu-95MSM strategic missile carriers made their first flights. Two long-term contracts for the supply of Su-35S multi-purpose fighters and Su-34 fighter-bombers have been completed.

“This year, it is important to increase production of promising weapons - the Su-57 fifth-generation multi-purpose fighters, the new Il-76MD-90A heavy military transport aircraft”, - the Defence Minister said.

An equally important task, according to Sergei Shoigu, is the reproduction of the modernized Tu-160M strategic bombers at the Kazan Aviation Plant.

"Today we will talk about how to ensure the systematic workload of aviation enterprises and solve a number of technological problems", - the head of the military department added.

The next item on the teleconference agenda concerned the Strategy for Ensuring the Uniformity of Measurements in the Russian Federation until 2025, which directly affects the sphere of state military security.

As the Minister of Defence noted, over 200 specialists have already been trained, which made it possible to cover all developments of military equipment with a mandatory metrological examination and significantly reduce the number of violations in the troops related to the system of ensuring the uniformity of measurements.

“At the meeting, we will discuss the progress of the Action Plan for the implementation of the State Strategy”, - General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said.
