Pilots engage over 200 mock aircraft within Ladoga 2019 air drills
More than 200 mock enemy's airplanes were engaged by fighter pilots of the Western Military District within the framework of the Ladoga 2019 largest aviation exercise in Karelia.
During the week, the pilots practised of dogfight, as well as combat use of aircraft weapons to engage aerial targets both at extremely low altitudes and at altitudes above 10,000 meters.
The exercises is held at the training ground and in the coastal zone of the Ladoga Lake. Pilots of the Air Force and Air Defence Army of the district are flying on MiG-31BM airplanes, Su-27, Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM2 aircraft of various modifications.
In total, over 50 aircraft, over 70 crews, as well as more than 1,000 military technical personnel have been involved in the Ladoga 2019 largest aviation exercise at six military airfields.
