Servicemen of the Southern Military District have worked out a practical stage of bilateral exercises with landing of troops on combined arms training grounds
The servicemen of the motorized rifle large unit of the 58th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District stationed in Chechnya conducted a practical stage of a bilateral battalion-level tactical exercise with air landing of the troops.
The stage took place at the “Sernovodsky” training range in the Stavropol region and the “Gvardeets” training range in the Chechen Republic. In the course of the exercise, the army aviation crews landed tactical airborne assault force in the area of combat operations, provided fire support, and then evacuated them from the area and destroyed the enemy’s airborne assault force.
At this stage the servicemen increased their weapons and equipment skills. The crews of UAVs and scout units were employed for terrain reconnaissance and mock enemy’s identification.
The next stage of the bilateral exercise will include offensive and defensive actions with live firing from the T-72B3 tanks, the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, the BTR-82A APCs, the Mi-8AMTSh army aviation helicopters armament, as well as from the “Sani” towed mortars and the “Msta-B” towed howitzers.
About 1000 servicemen of the Southern Military District and 250 vehicles were involved in the exercise.
