Pilots of the Southern Military District and the Ministry of Defence of Armenia destroyed a mock enemy column in the mountains as part of the maneuvers 'Kavkaz-2020"
As part of the tactical combat drawings of the maneuvers 'Kavkaz-2020" at the Alagyaz training ground, the crews of MiG-29 fighters of the Southern Military District (SMD) and Su-30SM of the Armenian Defence Ministry destroyed objects and a column of military equipment of the mock enemy.
In the course of practical actions, the pilots of the two countries worked out the complex elements of flight training – flights at extremely low altitudes with a rounding of the terrain. About 50 electronic launches of unguided missiles were made against armored vehicles and the mock enemy's manpower.
The pilots performed the tasks in conditions of the use of radar warfare by the mock enemy, as well as in the event of emergency situations, equipment failure and emergency landing.
In addition, the crews performed elements of complex aerobatics in the altitude range from 1.5 to 3 thousand meters at speeds from 300 to 800 km/h, including combat turns, vertical, horizontal and oblique "barrels", Nesterov loop.
Drawing of practical fighting by units of the Southern Military District and the Armed Forces of Armenia are held from 21 to 26 September under the guidance of the joint force commander, Lieutenant-General Tigran Parvanyan.
A special feature of this year's maneuvers is its implementation in conditions of strict compliance with anti-epidemic measures related to the spread of a new coronavirus infection. All participants are under the supervision of medical specialists.
The maneuvers "Kavkaz-2020" are held from 21 to 26 September 2020 at the internal training grounds of the Southern Military District.
Military formations from Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar and Pakistan are invited to the exercise to practice joint actions as part of groups of troops (forces). Representatives of Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Sri-Lanka plan to participate as observers.
In total, about 80 people are expected to be involved in the maneuvers "Kavkaz-2020" (including formations and units of combat, logistics and technical support, as well as air defence, navy and special forces units (National guard and Ministry of Emergency Situations). At the same time, the maximum number of personnel involved in military units that fall under the Vienna document of 2011 in the exercise, conducted under a single operational command, will be up to 12,900 military personnel.
