Polar Star 2019: first-ever competiton among airborne special units kicks off in Pskov
An official opening ceremony for the Polar Star 2019 competition was held in Pskov region. It is the first time as such competition is held within the International Army Games.
More than 50 socuts from four formations of Airborne Troops have arrived in Pskov to participate in the contest. Those who show the best results will joint the combined team of Airborne Troops to represent the Russian Armed Forces at the international stage in the Republic of Belarus.
The main stages take place at the Zavelichye training ground, Pskov region, on April 17-26.
In 10 days, scouts of the Airborne Troops from Tula, Ivanovo, Ussuriysk and Moscow regions are to demonstrate their professional skills in conditions closely resembling combat ones.
According to the terms of the competition, each team includes 12 people: team leader, deputy team leader, snipers, scouts - radio operators, machine gunner, grenade thrower and sappers.
The international stage of the Polar Star competition is to be held from 3 to 16 August 2019 near Brest, the Republic of Belarus.
