Pskov hosted the opening of the first joint Russian-Belarusian tactical exercise of the Russian airborne troops and Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in 2020
Today in Pskov, on the basis of the St. Alexander Nevsky Black sea airborne assault regiment of the Pskov airborne guards formation, the joint tactical exercise of the Russian airborne troops and Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus was inaugurated.
During the solemn meeting, the ceremony of raising the state flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus was held, according to tradition, the divisions of the two countries marched.
The first joint Russian-Belarusian tactical exercise in 2020 between the Russian airborne troops and the Special Operations Forces of the Republic of Belarus (SOF RB) Armed Forces will take place from 18 to 21 February at the "Strugi Krasnye" and "Zavelichye" ranges and "Kislovo" landing site.
In total, the exercise will involve more than 350 military personnel, about 100 units of military equipment of the Pskov guards amphibious assault unit and about 80 soldiers of a separate guards amphibious assault unit of the SOF RB, stationed in Brest.
In addition, the exercise involved 2 Mi-24 helicopters and 8 Mi-8 AMTSH helicopters of the of the Western Military District, as well as 4 Il-76MD aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
