In the town of Lak Sao, the latest Russian demining means handed over to engineering specialists of the People’s Army of Laos
Today, in the town of Lak Sao (Bolikhamsai province, the People's Republic of Lao) the Russian latest means of detecting explosive ordnance and protection have been handed over to engineers of the People’s Army of Laos.
Representatives of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the humanitarian demining tasks in the Republic of Lao have trained 19 military personnel to work on Russian search vehicles.
At the site of the demining detachment, a center branch was established where Laotian military personnel undergo training. Under the guidance of the instructors of the mine action center, the Lao specialists studied theoretical basis and components of Russian means of explosive ordnance searching and a sapper's protection. Practical application was carried out on the ground jointly with the Russian specialists.
The Lao side received a wide range of mine detectors, which are based on various physical principles of explosive ordnance detection.
The 36-strong detachment of the International Mine Action of the Russian Armed Force has been despatched to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in order to assist in demining the territory by the decision of the President of the Russian Federation - the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
