SMD's servicemen win all-army stage of Open Water contest
Today, the winner of the all-army stage of the Open Water competition has been determined at the Vantovy training ground of the Vladimir region.
Three teams competed in the final. As a result, the team of the 11th separate engineering brigade of the Southern Military District won, spending 45 minutes 29 seconds to complete all the competitive tasks, the second place was taken by the team of the 45th separate engineering brigade of the Western Military District with a total time of 51 minutes 16 sec., the third place went to the representatives of the 28th pontoon-bridge brigade.
The key task of the contestants was to quickly transfer a motorized rifle unit with military equipment across the river half a kilometer wide.
The competition included a series of consecutive stages: engineering reconnaissance of water crossings for the presence of enemy engineering obstacles (mines); overcoming the anti-tank ditch in the way of the column; then - overcoming the water barrier with the delivery of military equipment.
During the competition, the teams used such military engineering equipment as the SNL-8 boat, BAT-2 tracklayer, PTS-2 amphibious tracked vehicle, PMM-2 ferry-bridge and PP-2005M the newest pontoon park.
Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky, Head of the Engineer Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, noted that the all-army stage of the Open Water competition was held at a good organizational level. The teams demonstrated high professionalism, including excellent possession of the military equipment.
Every year the participants show all the best and best results, which eloquently demonstrates the feasibility of holding such events.
