Special forces of Southern MD to practise rapelling at Friendship 2019 exercises
The special forces groups of the Southern Military District in the Kuban have begun practicing rapelling from military transport helicopters Mi-8AMTSh in preparation for Friendship 2019 Russian-Pakistani exercise.
More than 100 servicemen of the special-purpose company of the 49th combined arms army of the Southern Military District deployed in Stavropol were involved in the training.
After the landing, the servicemen will organise defence of the landing area, fire ambushes and repelling the attack of simulated terrorists in the mountains.
The first Friendship joint Russian-Pakistan exercise was held in Pakistan in 2016.
In 2019, the joint event will be attended by special forces units of the 49th combined arms army of the Southern Military District, stationed in Stavropol. The exercises involve over 200 troops from the two countries.
Friendship 2019 exercise in accordance with the plan of international military cooperation will be held at the Molkino training ground in the Krasnodar Territory from October 1 to 12.
