The squad of the International Mine Action Center returned to Russia from Laos

Specialists of the International Mine Action Center of Russian Armed Forces returned to Russia after completing a mission of humanitarian demining of the territory of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

A squad of 34 soldiers was delivered by an Il-76MD military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces to the Chkalovsky military airfield. The plane's crew flew over a distance of more than 7,000 km.

During the mission from October 2019 to March 2020, Russian specialists cleared more than 10 hectares of territory in Sienghuan province (Laos), detected and neutralized more than 830 explosive objects.

Most of the ammunition belongs to BLU-26, BLU-63, BLU-3/B cluster bombs, anti-personnel mines, and artillery shells.

In accordance with the instructions of Russian Defence Minister on the organization of medical monitoring of military personnel who arrived from foreign missions, all military personnel of the squad during interim landing at the airfield in Novosibirsk passed tests to detect a new coronavirus infection.

A full cycle of sanitary and epidemiological measures is carried out at the arrival airfield with the personnel of the squad. At the point of permanent deployment, all arriving military personnel will be placed in a two-week quarantine.
