Three competitions of the Army international games were launched in Brest
Today in the Republic of Belarus on the territory of the memorial complex "Brest fortress-hero" took place the opening ceremony of the international competitions "Sniper Frontier", "Polar Star" and "Confident Reception", which will be attended by teams from seven countries.
Teams of participating countries, Chief of the General staff of the Armed Forces-first Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus Major General Alexander Volfovich, Commander of Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Major General Vadim Denisenko, military personnel of the Brest garrison and invited guests took part in the solemn events. The Russian Armed Forces were represented at the opening ceremony by the Deputy head of the main signals department of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Alexander Rubis.
In his speech, Major General A. Volfovich expressed confidence that participation in the army games will strengthen trust between the Armed Forces and make a significant contribution to international security.
Participants of the ceremony laid flowers at the memorial to the fallen defenders of the Brest fortress and honored their memory with a minute of silence.
Russian military personnel are represented in all three competitions held in the Republic of Belarus.
The Russian team at the international competitions of masters of marksmanship will be represented by the winners of the all-army stage of the competition-cadets of the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School, as well as military personnel of the Eastern Military District. In addition, Russian DOSAAF teams and a women's team of snipers from the Republic of Belarus take part in international competitions of the best snipers on a non-competitive basis.
At the competitions among special forces groups, Russia will be represented by paratroopers of the airborne guards unit from the Moscow region.
The Russian team of signallers included representatives of the types and branches of troops, the Western Military District, as well as cadets of the Budyonny Military Academy of Signals.
International competitions "Sniper Frontier", "Polar Star" will be held at the "Brest" training ground of the 38th separate guards paratrooper brigade of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, the "Confident reception" competition in Minsk and will last until September 5.
