Detachment of the Ministry of Defence ensured the safety of dismantling the structure of an underground storage facility with chemical waste in Usolye-Sibirskoye

A detachment of the Ministry of Defence in the town of Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk Region, ensured the safety of dismantling the structure of one of the underground storage facilities where the chemical waste of the Usoliekhimprom enterprise was located.

In the course of the work, the specialists of the NBC protection units ensured the safety of removing the filler pipes from the wells. Through them, chemicals entered the storage facility, which were removed before dismantling. In addition, together with the military personnel of the Ministry of Defence and specialists of the Federal Environmental Operator, employees of the EMERCOM of Russia take part in the work.

The combined unit of the Ministry of Defence arrived in Usolye-Sibirskoe on August 10. It performed tasks of setting up water curtains around the discharged tanks in the event of an emergency, monitors the chemical situation, selects samples for rapid analysis of soil, water and air. Laboratory research is carried out on the basis of a certified laboratory of the scientific center of the NBC protection troops.

Units of the NBC protection of the Russian Ministry of Defence have been involved in rendering assistance in eliminating the threat of environmental pollution in Usolye-Sibirskoye on behalf of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
