More than a thousand tankers of the Southern Military District went to the training grounds to prepare for the Tank Biathlon competition
Preparations for the qualifying stage of the Tank Biathlon competition within the framework of ARMI-2021 have started at the training grounds of the Southern Military District (SMD). In total, more than 330 tank crews with a total number of over a thousand people will participate in the selection.
Classes are held at combined-arms training grounds in the Rostov and Volgograd regions, in Crimea, Dagestan, Chechnya, North Ossetia and Adygea, as well as at Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
The driver-mechanics of the T-90 and T-72B3 tanks practice the passage of a route of increased complexity - with an obstacle course in the form of escarpments, trenches, ditches, track bridges, slopes and mine-explosive obstacles.
In addition, the crews perform firing exercises from a standstill and in motion with a standard projectile at emerging and moving targets that simulate tanks and low-flying helicopters at a distance of 900 to 2200 m.
Tank Biathlon professional skill competition is part of the program of the International Army Games. Preliminaries in formations and military units will begin in early 2021. The winners will continue to compete across the union and district.
