Major ASW ships of the Pacific Fleet train to engage a submarine in the Sea of Japan

Today, during a planned anti-submarine tactical exercise, major anti-submarine ships Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Vinogradov of the Primorye Flotilla of the Pacific Fleet, in the waters of Peter the Great Bay, trained to search, track and destroy a submarine.

One of the fleet diesel submarines simulated an adversary. Along with the ship’s search facilities, the IL-38 anti-submarine aircraft and the deck-based Ka-27PL naval aviation helicopters, which used lowered sonar stations, were involved in locating the submarine.

After establishing contact with the submarine, the anti-submarine ships successfully completed practical shooting, using jet depth bombs and anti-submarine torpedoes.
