Missile cruiser Varyag conducts shooting in Sea of Japan
Today the Pacific Fleet flagship missile cruiser Varyag has practiced individual warfare at sea according to the combat training plan.
The ship conducted the artillery shooting from AK-130 130-mm gun at a towed sea shield in the Peter the Great Gulf.
Later in the area of ??the coastal Pacific Fleet test site the cruiser applied artillery to suppress landscape’s visible and hidden targets, imitating firing points and military equipment of the mock enemy on the coast.
Today the Varyag’s crew has practiced their skills in mine danger prevention and destroyed a model of a buoyant mine by the 30-mm six-barrel automatic artillery guns. Also they conducted a range of exercises including air defence and damage control.
The Tu-142 long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet naval aviation were involved in some episodes of the Varyag’s drills.
