Pacific Fleet Commander meets Royal Thai Navy officers
Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Sergei Avakyants held a meeting with a commander of the Royal Thai Navy detachment Real Admiral Chanin Phadunkin. The meeting took place within a visit of the Thai ships to Vladivostok made for the first time in 15 years. The meeting was also attended by commanders of the frigate HTMS Bangpakong and frigate Naresuan, and best graduates of the Royal Thai Naval Academy.
Sergei Avakyants welcomed the guests from Thailand and expressed his hope that Thai ships would make calls at Vladivostok on regular basis in the future. Admiral Sergei Avakyants emphasised that the Pacific Fleet was pleased to meet their Thai colleagues and would do everything possible so that the guest have the best impression of this visit.
The commander of the Fleet stressed that the main purpose of such visits is to strengthen mutual understanding between seamen from different countries, to build respect for national cultures and traditions among the military personnel of both countries. He invited Thai sailors to take part in the celebration of Victory Day and Day of the Navy in Vladivostok.
In turn, Rear Admiral Chanin Phadunkin thanked the Pacific Fleet command for the warm welcome provided in the capital of Primorye and assured that the proposals voiced during the meeting would be reported to the command of the Royal Navy of Thailand.
At the end of the meeting, Russian and Thai sailors exchanged gifts and took pictures.
