Strategic missile men undergo retraining for new Yars MGMS
About a hundred officers of the Yoshkar-Ola missile formation of the Strategic Missile Forces completed the ordinary retraining stage to operate the new Yars mobile ground missile system (MGMS).
The retraining is organised in accordance with the positions occupied. These are, first of all, combat launch teams, specialists of signal communications, security, and power supply systems, as well as drivers-mechanics of autonomous launchers.
Training is conducted on modern simulators, adopted by the Yoshkar-Ola SMF division. The regimental servicemen studied the basic performances of units, equipment and components of the system, the mission, structure and maintenance fundamentals of operation, control and signal communications, security and defence system, basics of combat employment and other theoretical foundations.
Last year, some 1,000 servicemen of rearmed formations were retrained in the Arkhangelsk Region. The whole process consists of three stages. The first stage is carried out on the base of the missile formation and includes theoretical training of military personnel. The second stage takes place in the training centre at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, and the final practical one is organised directly in the missile regiment when the system is commissioned.
Each stage of retraining is completed by passing tests and controlled by the Strategic Missile Forces’ Combat Training Department.
