Southern MD units and formations to be projected at the distance of more than 3,000 kilometers within the unannounced inspection
In accordance to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces – the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, unannounced complex combat readiness inspection started in the Southern MD troops on 8 February.
The inspection involves military units and formations of the Southern military district, separate formations of Airborne troops and military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
At 5 a.m. on February 8, the Southern MD Commander received an operational situation concerning the inspection and an order to put the troops of the district on “Full” combat alert.
Command staff of the Central MD received an order to deploy the whole control system – starting from Central MD HQ up to formation control centers – in field conditions.
Assessment of task performance readiness of units, training level, technical readiness and equipping level of formations and military units with armament and military hardware is the main goal of the inspection.
In the course of the inspection, Southern MD troops are to be put on task performance readiness and conduct long-distance marching to unfamiliar ranges.
Moreover, the command staff will also assess mobile capabilities and their readiness for being projected at the distance of more than 3,000 kilometers by railway, naval and military transport aviation.
At the moment, Southern MD formations and military units are conducting marching to the assigned areas.
In accordance to the plan of the inspection, aviation is being deployed at the alternate airfields. Piloting staff received flight tasks and started preparing aircraft for air missions.
