Two-time Olympic gold medalist, pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva returns to CSKA
Today a conference with the participation of the Olympic champion, Yelena Isinbayeva and the chief of the CSKA, Colonel Mikhail Baryshev took place in the press center of the international news agency “Rossiya Segodnya”.
At the press conference Yelena Isinbyaeva told about the her come-back to the CSKA and her return into elite sport and claimed that she would go to the Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro only if she would be able to fight for gold.
“I’m very glad to come back to the CSKA that offers great opportunities. Or goals and ambitions are similar”, said Yelena Isinbayeva.
Yelena Isinbayeva informed the journalists that her first official starting could take place at the Governor’s Cup in Volgograd.
In his turn the chief of the CSKA, Colonel Mikhail Baryshev called Isinbayeva’s return a historical event.
“The CSKA is the family where sportsmen dedicate their victories to the Armed Forces”, emphasized Baryshev. Over 40 Olympic and 9 non-Olympic sports are developed in the CSKA. In total there are 14 000 sportsmen in the club. There is a profession – to defend our Motherland and this is relevant to our sportsmen who defend the honour of the country”.
Yelena won two gold medals at the Olympics of 2004 and 2008, a bronze medal at the Olympics 2012. She is three times world champion and four times indoor world champion. She has set 28 world records.
