April 8 in Abakan the Defence Minister of Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and the Khakassia Chairman of the Government Viktor Zimin participated in official opening ceremony of CSKA specialized children and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve – the first one for last 30 years.
Addressing his words to young sportsmen and coaching staff the chief of military department said, that “the school is given a lot of authority and the coaches will get additional salary rates”.
“I am convinced, that our school will increase even more the significance of the Central sports club of the Army in Siberia. The legendary club that had been supported for many years, that is supported and will be supported”, said the Defence Minister.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu reminded that today a lot of attention is paid to the revival of the army sports.
“Two years ago we returned sports companies. We got a great number of prospective and talented young people. You know that a third of the medals won by Russian sportsmen at the last Olympic Games in Sochi are army awards. Receiving awards of the Defence Ministry after the Olympic Games, all our sportsmen said about the necessity to revive schools of the Olympic reserve. It is twice as pleasing that such a school was created here in Khakassia. I congratulate you one more time with this significant event. I reckon that Siberian fellow countrymen, as it has always been, will not let down the Army, will not let down the army sports and will bring up here worthy sportive youth. Such youth that will gladden us with success and awards. Such youth that will defend the honour of the country and of the Armed Forces at numerous competitions including Olympic Games,” said Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
The opening of the CSKA sports school in the Republic of Khakassia will provide the opportunity to expand the training program of the sports reserve for the Russian national and the Armed Forces teams by utilizing specialized sports facilities in the region.
Today CSKA includes 26 specialized children and youth sports schools of the Olympic reserve and 5 youth sports schools, where more than 12 thousand students are training under the tutelage of 400 coaches.
In the Russian Armed Forces, the development of youth sports is placed on the shoulders of CSKA, its affiliates and sports centres.
The young army sportsmen swore an oath as part of the ceremony. Under the authority of CSKA, more than 250 children will train in six sports in Khakassia – volleyball, judo, free-style wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, skiing. It worth noting that this is the first sports school in Siberia.
