The Deputy Minister Of Defence Of the Russian Federation Anatoly Antonov commented on the progress of preparations for the III Moscow International Conference on Security"The active phase of preparation is being continued in the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation for the reception of foreign delegations and carrying out the forthcoming conference on international security.
We expect foreign participants from more than 40 countries. In total, the conference will be attended by about 300 delegates, 9 Ministers of Defence of the foreign states have already confirmed their arrival.
In the context when the European countries decided to boycott our conference, a special interest has been shown by Asia and the Middle East. As in the previous years, high-level representatives of the defense ministries of the CIS countries will visit us.
Naturally, the events taking place in Ukraine today are making the impact on the agenda and the nature of upcoming discussions. In this regard, the number of the discussed issues included the problems of "color (flower) revolutions".
We do consider that a well-judged action would be to analyze the consequences of implementation of such scenarios for the global and the regional security, including former Soviet Union. The attention on this subject is riveted not only in Russia. It disturbs many colleagues from foreign military departments.
The phenomenon of "color (flower) revolutions" will be paid a special attention during the plenary session as well as the discussions of separate aspects of this problem on discussion panels. We’ll make an attempt to understand the implications of the "Arab Spring" for the Middle East and North Africa.
We do believe that Moscow conference on international security will be a good platform for further military evaluation of the occurring crisis phenomena and searching the ways to strengthen the global security."
