ICRC to consolidate cooperation with Russian military institution for implementing humanitarian operations
'First of all, I would like to thank you for inviting to visit the Conference and for our ongoing relations that keep getting better over time between the ICRC and the Russian Federation; particularly, with the Ministry of Defence', said Maurer.
'In addition, I would like to thank you for our cooperation on the ground; particularly, in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh. In recent years, especially in recent months in Nagorno-Karabakh, we demonstrated the importance of having this kind of relations and cooperation on the ground. And we would like to continue consolidating them', said Maurer.
According to him, it will facilitate implementing humanitarian operations.
The Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia called the ICRC one of the most nin-politicised organisations.
'Indeed, you do a big and difficult job, but very necessary for people. Searching the bodies of the disappeared persons, searching for hostages, handing them over and liberating them, this is the most to be done for people, consolidating the peace and establishing the stability', said Fomin.
He has emphasised that this is the reason why the Russian military institution is glad to see the Red Cross taking part in the Conference again.
